Additional level of security protects content against theft
Conax Chipset Pairing ensures that specified content is released only to the client devices supporting Chipset Pairing. By deploying Conax CAS7 with Conax Chipset Pairing, the operator controls not only what content the subscriber can view, but also the functionality and security level of the set-top-box(es) used in his operation.

“Content owners, as well as operators of satellite, cable, DTT and other pay-TV platforms should be concerned about content theft and illegal distribution if they wish to ensure maximal profit for valuable pay-for-content” says Geir Bjørndal, EVP Sales & Marketing, Conax. Conax is working closely with regional partners in China, such as Star Communication Company, one of Conax’ key partners in China, to provide solutions for preventing theft and illegal card sharing, resulting in significantly increased sales and presence in the Chinese market.”

Conax is a specialist within content security solutions. Today, 98% of Conax’ customer’s subscribers in Asia are already protected via Conax pairing technology against the latest form of abuse: illegal card sharing - when one legal smart card is used to open access for illegal viewing by non-paying subscribers.

“Illegal sharing of content is a growing problem in many markets. Conax is quite pleased that the Conax pairing solution is widely deployed in the Asian market and proud that most Conax customers in the region take content security quite seriously,” states Bjørndal.

“As the infrastructure rapidly develops, such problems will soon be seen on a much wider scale. Conax will work closely with content providers to ensure that we are well positioned to protect revenues of both content providers and legal distributers,” confirms Bjørndal. Conax success in China is due to our proven content security, continued focus on security only and strong network of partners.”
