Nov 15, 2007

Multivision started its operation in 1991 and is currently the only wireless multi-system operator in Bolivia providing analog wireless cable service in the cities of La Paz, Santa Cruz, Cochabamba and Tarija. During 2008 Multivision will launch a digital TV service using Conax CAS7 conditional access. The new digital service will satisfy the entertainment needs of households that are looking for new products, quality and comfort.

The competitive advantage of the new digital TV service will be the value-added offer based on access to a variety of programming and digital audio channels that the subscriber can choose according to their preferences. The service will offer high quality of video and audio, capability to choose audio language and subtitles, access to Pay-Per-View and an interactive programming guide.

In the initial stage, the target group is determined among 25.000 households in the city of La Paz that currently have analog Pay TV service. During year 2008 and 2009 Multivision plans to expand its digital TV service to the cities of Santa Cruz, Cochabamba and Tarija.

“The new digital TV service we are launching seeks to provide attributes not offered by any cable operator in Bolivia. After a thorough process, where we performed trial tests of different conditional access alternatives, visited existing operations in Brazil and Uruguay and considered the presence of CA suppliers in South America, we concluded that Conax was the provider that met all our needs related to protection of our digital services,” says Jimena Saavedra, CEO of Multivision.

“Conax’s reputation as a leading provider of state-of-the-art conditional access continues to attract customers all over the world. We are honored to add Multivision to our growing list of customers. Besides being our first MMDS operator in the region, the contract with Multivision demonstrates our successful move towards the northern part of South America and into Central America. We have a team of dedicated sales and support personnel who will continue to put all efforts into serving this region”, says Geir Bjørndal, COO and VP Sales & Marketing of Conax.
