Singapore, June 14, 2007: IWEDIA, the international provider of embedded DVB-based software solutions for digital television devices, and Conax, a leading supplier of state-of-the-art conditional access solutions for digital TV, today announced they will be revealing their market solution for cable operators at the Broadcast Asia ’07 exhibition in Singapore (19-22 June).

The market solution is a dedicated edition of IWEDIA Comedia middleware, pre-integrated with the Conax CAS7 Conditional Access System and running on a STMicroelectronics STi5107 chipset.

Used in conjunction with Conax CAS7, the STi5107 chipset hardware security features allow Conax embedded Set-Top Boxes to be paired with subscribers’ smart cards, providing an unprecedented level of security for premium content delivery.

Based on a robust, reliable and field-proven DVB-C system layer, the solution includes the following elements:
• A collection of network applications including ‘now & next’ and 7-day Electronic Program Guides (EPG)
• A set of Pay-TV applications: operator home page, operator-to-subscriber messaging, Pay-Per-View, near Video on Demand (nVoD), Mosaic, etc.
• A TV portal that brings together lightweight, one-way interactive services such as weather forecasts, horoscopes and Frequently Asked Questions
• A WYSIWYG authoring tool for customizing applications

Patrick Desproges, CEO, IWEDIA, says: "Deployed with the enhanced security provided by the combination of Conax CAS7 and the STi5107 chipset, our middleware solution is ideally suited for emerging digital TV operators. It is actually much more than a technical solution, since it is also a powerful marketing tool enabling operators to obtain more subs, enhance loyalty and reduce churn, as well as allowing reductions in CRM costs.”

Geir Bjørndal, COO and VP Sales & Marketing, Conax, adds: “This dedicated middleware solution from IWEDIA provides the answer for the many cable operators using Conax that wish to offer new and enhanced services to maintain and increase digital TV subscriber numbers. We are delighted to have such a professional and committed middleware provider in our portfolio.”
