Conax AS, a leading global supplier of state-of-the-art conditional access solutions for digital TV, announced today the cooperation with IMPEQ Technologies and Simac Broadcast. The agreement makes IMPEQ and Simac Broadcast a worldwide system integrator of Conax conditional access technology on non-exclusive basis. The cooperation also involves joint development efforts of non-security related products and testing of conditional access implementation in Set-Top-Boxes.

Conax offers content protection for broadcast via all kinds of network. Conax's partnership relations within the total digital TV value chain result in products of high quality and offer the customers the freedom to choose among the best technology providers for digital TV broadcasting worldwide.

Simac Broadcast and IMPEQ are both headquartered in the Netherlands with sales and support offices in Europe and Asia. Simac Broadcast offers its customers a complete package of solutions and services ranging from consultancy to vendor selection, installation, integration and maintenance. By choosing the best configuration of products in a multi-vendor environment, they create end-to-end solutions and support services dedicated for their clients.

As a conditional access provider, Conax’s focus is on security. A VOD solution is complex and involves several providers. Consequently, Conax provides security components for VOD solutions only, and cooperates with other companies for delivery of complete solutions. The cooperation with Conax also involves joint development efforts, where Conax in close cooperation with IMPEQ Product Development have developed a Push VOD solution.

Conax offers testing of the conditional access implementation in the Set-Top-Boxes (STB) and has established a modular conformity testing program to provide operators with stable and functional STBs. The test is offered to all STB manufactures and IMPEQ Test & Measurement is one of the partners of Conax executing Conax CAS STB Conformity Test based on a predefined testing scheme. The Conformity Test ensures requirement compliancy of conditional access related functionality and contributes to quality STBs in operation.

“Simac Broadcast/IMPEQ’s philosophy of delivering system integration and installation services choosing among the best vendors in the digital TV market place is a good match to Conax’s strategy of delivering-state-of-the art content security and freedom of choice in 3rd party technology,” stated Geir Bjørndal, VP Sales & Marketing and COO of Conax. “Their focus on tailor-made solutions and customer satisfaction as well as their in-house product development and testing resources will complement Conax. We look forward to working with Simac Broadcast/IMPEQ offering complete digital-TV solutions to the television operators around the world.”

“The cooperation between Conax and IMPEQ Technologies has been a natural process from the start. Not only for our Product Development and Test & Measurement activities but also for the System Integration & Support activities within Simac Broadcast.” Says Dick Hamann President & CEO of IMPEQ Technologies and Managing Director of Simac Broadcast. “Our partnership with Conax enables us to provide integrated solutions from digital head-end to set-top box.”
