Conax launches new marketing initiative in Germany
Technisat delivers DIGIT 1 with Conax SIM-cards / Kathrein announces new cable set top boxes with Conax CAS7 embedded/ TechnoTrend starts marketing cooperation.

Conax. the leading encryption specialist, supports new marketing initiatives of its cooperation partners in the German digital TV market.
Technisat delivers the DIGIT 1 cable set top box with the internationally known Conax CAS7 encryption system embedded. The card reader of the DIGIT 1 is based on the SIM-card technology, well known from mobile telephony. All cable households that subscribe to the KabelKiosk services, receive the Conax smart cards with the very handy SIM-card integrated. “With the SIM-technology Conax further extends its successful cooperation with Technisat. So far more than 1.250.000 households in Germany have bought Technisat set top boxes with the Conax smart card and CA embedded”, says Michael Schacht, Managing Director of Conax GmbH in Germany.
This autumn Kathrein introduces to the retail market two new cable receiver models with the Conax CA embedded. The UFC 861si is a cable PVR (Personal Video Recorder) with a 160 GB-Hard-disc and two independent frontends integrated. A common interface is available to add a second CA system in addition to the already embedded Conax CA system. The UFC 762 cable set top box has Conax and a second CA system embedded.
The new bundle that TechnoTrend will announce during ANGA Cable will contain one of its Conax embedded cable receivers, either TT-micro C201 or Scart TV C101, a free subscription from the KabelKiosk bouquet of services and a Conax smart card.

Deutsche Welle has recently completed installation of their Conax CAS7 system. They will use it to encrypt their play-out on the satellite up to the cable head-ends of their affiliated partners.
In Switzerland Conax has gained new customers again. After Digital Cable Group, second largest operator in Switzerland, and Kabelfernsehen Bödeli AG, EWB Wasser- und Elektrizitätswerk of the city Buchs and KFN Nidwalden have completed installation of the Conax CAS7 system. In Austria the innovative cable operator Liwest currently upgrades its security to Conax CAS7 to prepare for its VoD products.
„The very secure and cost efficient Conax CAS7 CA system gains more and more cable operators in Austria, Germany and Switzerland”, says Michael Schacht, referring to the new customers that have joined Conax during recent months.
