Conax and Nagravision in Simulcrypt - Digital Cable Group’s 350,000 Subscriber Households Connected
Conax, a worldwide leader in secure and innovative encryption solutions, has been commissioned by the Digital Cable Group (DCG) to deploy the Conax CAS7 encryption system in DCG’s networks. DCG is the second largest cable network in Switzerland. With the help of Conax, DCG is protecting its digital programming content using “simulcryption”, applying two encryption systems simultaneously.

Conax will provide system integration and first-level support in Switzerland in cooperation with its partner company Adrenio. Some 350,000 households connected to the DCG cable networks in central and western Switzerland, the Zurich area, and northern Switzerland will now be able to receive digital cable television using a common-interface receiver and a Conax CI module, or with a Conax-embedded receiver.
“For DCG it’s important to protect the high-value content through secure and user-friendly encryption solutions,” said Gunnar Greiter, Managing Director of DCG. “We’re making certain that the encryption system represents the state of the art, so that we can make our offerings simple, secure, and attractive to our customers. That’s why Conax is an ideal partner for us.”
Thanks to the company’s years of international experience in developing and providing secure and innovative conditional access solutions, the Conax encryption system is one of the most widely used in Europe. DCG’s decision to use simulcryption ensures that the company’s offerings can be received with the CI and Conax-embedded receivers already available, and so saves cable subscribers the expense of a new device.
