Conax CAS7 advanced modular Conditional Access System to be introduced at NAB Las Vegas

Conax AS, a leading supplier of state-of-the-art, highly innovative solutions for CA systems and security and payment solutions for the digital broadcast industry, will be introducing Conax CAS7 this April in North America at the Las Vegas National Association of Broadcasters show.

Built on Conax's strong security technology platform, the modular Conax CAS7 solution represents a milestone in its CA-system evolution. It allows a digital TV operator to start with a basic system supporting pay-TV and then include additional components to support more complex operations and business models. Conax CAS7 requires minimal upfront investment for installation of the full system (Conax CAS7 Core plus all modules) or partial system with certain key modules.

"We call the new Conax CAS7 modular system the best CA system ever," said Ernst Thue, Conax CEO. "It is open and interoperable and features freedom of choice in technology with a fair and non-discriminating STB licensing policy. With its mature and proven technology, long experience with Smart Cards and very strong anti-piracy record, Conax CAS7 is a highly scalable system.

Thue said that Conax CAS7's new functionality exceeds most other existing systems and includes:

Conax CAS7 also offers five major improvements from the previously introduced Conax CAS5 offering. These include an EPG manager, Management GUI, token-based pay per view, personal video recorder, BMS basic subscriber management system and multi descrambling.
