Conax to provide Conditional Access to Turner's new kids channel in Asia

Conax AS, a leading supplier of conditional access technology for digital TV, has signed a contract for delivering conditional access services for Turner Broadcasting System, Inc. (TBS, Inc.) in Asia.

Jan 19, 2004

TBS, Inc., will use the Conax CAS5 conditional access technology for broadcasting the new Pogo channel as a direct to air (DTO) operation to Indian cable networks. The channel, to be launched in January, will be uplinked from Hong Kong and will be part of the Zee Turner bouquet.

"Conax is very pleased to have teamed up with Turner Broadcasting. We are looking forward to working with Turner to facilitate the distribution of their Pogo channel to the Asian market", says Ole Hansvold, COO & Executive Vice President at Conax AS.

"Partnering with Conax makes sense," said Alastair Hamilton, EVP, Distribution Technology, TBS International, Inc. "Their recent popularity in Asia, and the ease with which we could integrate a CONAX encrypted channel into our existing multiplex made them our first choice. We're excited to work with Conax and look forward to developing a strong business relationship."
