Conax product began as pioneering pay-TV technology in Telenor

Conax technology, developed by a Telenor R&D team, was launched into large-scale operation in 1992. Conax was established in 1994 an independent company.

With offices in 13 countries today, Conax is part of the Telenor Group (www.telenor.com). Telenor Group has telecom operations in 11 countries, 125 million mobile subscriptions worldwide and is among the largest mobile operators in the world.


Conax milestones

  • 1980s - R&D project at Telenor Research Labs for CA pay-TV principles (D2MAC and MPEG)
  • 1990 - Developed one of the first pay-TV smart cards
  • 1992 - First broadcast operation using Conax CA
  • 1994 - Incorporation of Conax AS
  • 1997 - First operational launch of Conax DVB platform
  • 1998 - ISO certification
  • 2001 - BS 7799 certification
  • 2002 - Conax CAS5 launch
  • 2004 - Conax CAS7 launch
  • 2009 - Conax operating in over 350 installations in more than 80 countries globally
  • 2010 - Conax Contego launch
  • 2011 - Conax Contego Unite launch
